Man seriously injured during Danville shooting, person of interest identified



PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in Danville on January 19 that has hospitalized a man with serious injuries.

The sheriff said around 1 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the 1100 block of Afton Road to find a man with major injuries from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to SOVAH Emergency Room for treatment.

According to Deputies, the victim is still being treated for his injuries.

A person of interest has been identified in the case; however, no arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office currently believe the incident may be connected with domestic violence and are working alongside the Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Haskin in reviewing evidence.

The Sheriff’s Office says this is an isolated incident.
