Garage fire spreads and destroys nearby vehicle in Lynchburg


LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire that caused a vehicle to ignite on February 3.

LFD said that firefighters responded to a garage fire at the 4900 block of Old Boonsboro Road around 1:15 p.m. on Monday. At the scene, crews found a small 20×20 building engulfed in flames that was threatening other buildings and nearby vehicles.

Fire officials said that one car next to the garage caught on fire and was destroyed.

The fire took crews around a half hour to get under control. No injuries have been reported.

The garage and the vehicle are reported to be a total loss.

The Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.
