Pinpoint Weather: Mountain snow showers as cold continues


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A wave of energy will drop into the region overnight, with snow showers possible for areas mainly west of Interstate 77. Accumulations for the higher peaks will be less than half an inch, with a dusting possible in the valleys. Mount Rogers could see up to one inch at the summit.

The snow showers will be possible Monday evening into early Tuesday with clouds then breaking up, setting the stage for sunshine on Tuesday.

Cold air will remain in place overnight and into the day on Tuesday. Temperatures will start off in the teens and 20s, rising into the 20s and 30s for the afternoon.

Gusty winds will make it feel colder, with gusts to 20 mph possible throughout the day.

Temperatures will remain well below average for the work week with moderating temperatures expected for the weekend. Rain showers are possible on Sunday and Monday.
