Seven vehicles involved in Tuesday crash on I-581N, two people injured


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police Department and Roanoke Fire & EMS have released details on the accident that occurred at the Elm Avenue exit off Interstate 581 North on February 11.

Officials with RPD and Roanoke Fire & EMS said on Tuesday, emergency responders arrived at the northbound lanes of I-581 at the Elm Avenue exit around 12:12 p.m. on Tuesday. At the scene, officers found a seven-vehicle crash.

Traffic was backed up and all lanes heading north were closed while the scene was cleared.

Roanoke Fire & EMS said two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three more were evaluated on scene.

All lanes were reopened by 1:30 p.m.
