Pinpoint Weather: Wind Advisory Wednesday


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Wind Advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. Wednesday for areas just east of the Blue Ridge, westward into West Virginia. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected with gusts of 40 to 50 mph. A High Wind Warning is in effect for Highland County.

Winds will increase during the early morning hours with the strongest winds expected around midday. Wind speeds will begin to drop by mid-afternoon becoming much lighter during the evening.

Winds will increase as a fast-moving cold front moves through. Sunshine is expected with the western mountains possibly seeing a few clouds during the morning hours.

Temperatures are expected to get a few degrees warmer on Wednesday. The day will start in the 30s for most, rising into the 50s and 60s during the afternoon.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Thursday but increase again on Friday as rain moves in. Temperatures will return to the low 50s over the weekend with upper 50s expected on Monday.
