ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the portions of Greenbrier, Highland and Pocahontas Counties through Thursday morning. Occasional snow showers could bring one to three inches to the mountains.

Windy conditions will continue for the next couple of days which will keep the cold air pouring into the region. Wind gusts to 25 mph are expected through Wednesday with gusts of 35 to 40 mph expected on Thursday.

Outside of the mountains. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions are expected on Wednesday.
Temperatures will remain well below average on Wednesday with many areas starting the day in the teens before rising into the 20s and 30s during the afternoon.
The cold air will remain in place through the weekend with highs in the 20s and 30s. Temperatures will rise to near 40 on Monday.


Moisture will return to the area Friday night into Saturday morning. It will be cold enough for another round of wintry precipitation. It is too early to know exactly how much we will get.
