Lynchburg Fire Department rescues doe trapped in ice

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)—The Lynchburg Fire Department is telling the community that when it comes to saving lives, it does matter if it’s a person, pet, or, in their case on Sunday, a deer.

Crews responded on January 26 to the pond behind The Summit to a deer that fell through the ice.

Residents reported the incident, and David Kidd, Chris Harris, Jake Overstreet, and Battalion Chief Dave Jackson borrowed a boat to initiate the rescue.

Crews were able to make the save and bring the deer back to dry ground.
