Covington woman identified after deadly single-vehicle crash in Craig County



CRAIG, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 59-year-old woman from Covington in Craig County on February 7.

VSP said around 10:45 a.m. on Friday, a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south with a passenger on Route 311 when the SUV went off the right side of the road. The 64-year-old driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The passenger, 59-year-old Deniece Hubbard of Covington was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she was wearing her seatbelt.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was also wearing his seatbelt, police said.

Virginia State Police said the investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending.
