Sheriff reports inmate death at Danville City Jail



DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Deputies with the Danville Police Department have reported an inmate death on Wednesday, January 22.

The sheriff said that deputies were serving breakfast to inmates when one did not come out of his cell for the meal.

When deputies responded to the cell, they found him alone and unresponsive. The inmate was in his secure cell.

Deputies took action and gave CPR until the Danville Life Saving Crew and Danville Fire Department arrived.

Christopher McLaughlin, the inmate, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at SOVAH Danville.

McLaughlin did have existing health issues, and there was no sign of foul play or self-harm.
