RPD identified man accused of firing gun during wellbeing check in SW Roanoke



UPDATE 2:58 P.M. 12/10 ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – RPD has released the charges and identified the man accused of firing inside a residence during a well-being check in Southwest Roanoke on the morning of December 10.

Police said that 38-year-old Kevin Vincent Stefanik of Roanoke has been arrested and charged with Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place, Firearm Use in Commission of Felony, and two counts of malicious wounding (attempt).

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke City Police say a man is in custody after a well-being check led to a shooting in Southwest Roanoke on December 10.

According to RPD, officers responded to a residence on the 2700 block of Avenel Avenue SW for a well-being check around 8:21 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, attempts were made to contact the individual inside the home when a shot was allegedly fired.

Additional units responded to the residence when the man inside surrendered.

Police said the man is in custody and no injuries were reported.
