Woman killed, man charged with murder in Danville, police say



DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Danville Police are investigating after an 81-year-old woman was found murdered at a home in Danville on December 6.

DPD said that around 2 p.m. on Friday, officers arrived at a home on the 1300 block of College Park Drive to perform a well-being check for 81-year-old Patsy Scearce. On the scene, Scearce was found deceased with trauma to her upper body.

Police said that Scearce lived at the home with her grandson, 35-year-old Barry Pyron Jr. of Danville.

Around 11:46 a.m. earlier on Friday, police said there were reports of a man who abruptly walked into the path of a train and was hit as it was traveling through the city near West Main Street and Booth Road.

The man was later identified as Barry Pyron.

Pyron sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Barry Pyron Jr. has been charged with second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing; however, DPD said there will be no further information released at this time.
