Scam alert in Halifax County, Sheriff’s Office advises community



HALIFAX, Va. (WFXR) – The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents of scam alert calls after receiving multiple reports.

The scam calls state that it is Inv. Jeff Burton is calling people stating they have failed to appear in court, and immediately need to pay court fines at a kiosk at Food Lion or through Western Union.

The number being used is 434-830-9832, which is not associated with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department.

If you receive a scam call, immediately call 434-476-3334.
