ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia State Police Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force (HIDTA) conducted a narcotics operation along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the City of Roanoke Police Department on Tuesday.
The Star City Task Force conducted a multi-year-long high-level narcotics investigation on a large drug trafficker in the City of Roanoke. During this operation, Task Force members and the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division served two federal search warrants.
Law enforcement searched locations at the 2900 block of Yorktown Place in Southwest Roanoke and the 2400 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest Roanoke.
The search warrants were related to a narcotics delivery under surveillance by local law enforcement. The courier had traveled to California and back to Virginia. The Star City Task Force members observed this person who carried two bags into the residence moments before the warrants were executed.
Agents and Officers seized 8 kilograms of suspected cocaine, and 2 kilograms of suspected Fentanyl allegedly found during the searches.

53-year-old Wendell Antonio Johnson of Roanoke, Va., was arrested and charged on a federal level with Possession with Intent to Distribute 500 grams or more of Cocaine. Johnson was previously released from federal prison in 2020.
55-year-old John Bauer Glass of Roanoke, Va., was federally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute 500 grams or more of Cocaine.
Johnson and Glass are being held without bond at the Roanoke Adult Detention Center on a federal detainer. Additional charges are pending after consultation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
