SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Three people were displaced in a fire Sunday, according to Salem Fire and EMS.
Crews say they found heavy fire and smoke at a home on Craig Avenue just after 2:30 a.m. Dec. 8. They say it took 40 minutes to put out the flames and that the fire caused an estimated $250,000 in property loss. The Salem Fire Marshal’s Office investigated and says the fire was caused by unattended cooking.
The three residents and their dog were able to escape without any injuries. They’re reportedly staying with family.
26 personnel from Salem and Roanoke City fire departments responded to the scene.
