Salem Council member says farewell after 16 years of service


SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Bill Jones was honored by the City of Salem’s City Council after serving for 16 years.

Bill Jones served four consecutive terms as a member of the Salem City Council and gave his farewell speech on Monday, January 13.

Jones joined the council in 2008 and helped guide the city through the great recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also used his business ideas to keep the city moving forward with his significant school and facility improvements.

His family, friends, and associates joined him during his farewell ceremony.

“Thank you, sir, for your service to the city you love and call home!” – The City of Salem
