A large system will be pushing precipitation into the region overnight that will encounter cold air wedged at the surface. The result will be a widely varying amount and type of wintry precipitation dependent on elevation and timing.
There are Winter Weather Advisories in effect for pre-dawn Sunday through Sunday evening. Areas impacted are along and west of the Blue Ridge.

Sunday will be rainy for most of the region with temperatures in the 30s west of the mountains and in the upper 30s to as warm as the mid-40s in the Piedmont.

Rain chances will continue off and on for the week with much warmer temperatures.
