A strong cold front is passing through today and will bring rain with periods of heavy rainfall and gusty wind. Thunderstorms are possible with some becoming severe with damaging wind and large hail. There is a very low chance of isolated tornadoes along the VA/NC border.
The Storm Prediction Center has all of our region in the Marginal Risk category, which is the lowest. The Slight category for severe storms includes Martinsville, Danville, and South Boston.
Non-thunderstorm wind gusts exceeding 30 mph are expected today with faster speeds along higher elevations.
Temperatures today will be mild in the 50s and 60s.
