North Carolina man killed, another seriously injured during crash in Carroll County



CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Carroll County that killed a man from North Carolina and seriously injured another on January 1.

VSP said just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, 19-year-old Elijah B. Slavey of Low Gap, North Carolina was driving south with a passenger in a 2013 Nissa Altima on Route 643. Slavey lost control around a curve and went off the left side of the road, collided with a tree head-on, and then hit a second tree.

Slavey was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to VSP.

19-year-old passenger, Marvin D. Delp III suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Delp was wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Police said the crash is still being investigated.
