Lynchburg reopening warming center as freezing temperatures continue



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – As colder temperatures are continuing, the City of Lynchburg is partnering with the Salvation Army to assist those in need of shelter during the winter nights.

The warming center will be reopening at the Salvation Army located at 2215 Park Avenue for unsheltered individuals and families in the community.

The warming center will be opening the following days:

  • Thursday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m. to Friday, December 6 at 8:00 a.m.
  • Friday, December 6 at 8:00 p.m. to Saturday, December 7 at 8:00 a.m.

The shelter will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a low-barrier warming shelter
