Joe Cobb wins Roanoke mayor’s race after recount



ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Following a much-anticipated recount, Democrat Joe Cobb is officially the next mayor of Roanoke, defeating his Republican challenger, former mayor David Bowers, by an ultra-slim margin.

Here are the final numbers:

  • Bowers: 15,217
  • Cobb: 15,246

A third candidate, independent Stephanie Moon, finished behind both Cobb and Bowers by several thousand votes.

Cobb, the city’s current vice-mayor, will take office on January 1st.
