Goodwill stores accepting more holiday donations

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Giving to Goodwill twice during the holiday season can positively impact communities within Virginia and offer them a chance to be transformed.

“The holiday season often brings new gifts into our homes, including toys, clothing and household items,” says Mindy Boyd, chief operating officer. “By donating items that are no longer needed, you’re helping the item find a new home, and supporting Goodwill’s job seeker programs. These programs provide resume assistance, interview practice, skills training and other resources to help our community find jobs.”

Goodwill gives tax receipts for all donations which makes it easy to take advantage of tax reductions. Goodwill locations across central, southwest, and southside Virginia accept donations including gently used clothing, winter clothes, electronics, and household goods.

“Every donation to Goodwill has a ripple effect in our community,” explains Boyd. “The revenue from our stores funds job training programs, employment services and other vital community initiatives that help local residents build skills and find meaningful employment. Your donations create opportunities for others.”
