ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Here in the Commonwealth, thousands of miles from the wildfires ravaging Southern California, one non-profit is working to spread hope to those on the West Coast.
God’s Pit Crew is doing its part to support those in California by sending over 1,000 of its blessing buckets this week. Put together by the team’s volunteers, the blessing buckets are packed with critical supplies like bottled water, food, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies. Each bucket is also given a personalized note of encouragement as well…
“Our mission is to deliver hope, healing, and restoration to hurting people during times of disaster. And that doesn’t necessarily have to be our back door. We’ve been to California before. We’re happy to go back again. We actually have one of our staff members flying out doing an assessment later this week. And you know, our calling is to go out and make a difference in these communities,” said Brandon Nuckles, the COO of God’s Pit Crew.
In the meantime, another team with God’s Pit Crew is returning to western North Carolina, where the recent winter storms have affected the recovery efforts. The group says there are still many people whose lives are still not back to normal.
“We’re geared to go out there and continue to make a difference doing our long-term restoration, which is, restoring homes where we can, continuing to clear and demo lots, help with dangerous tree removal, and getting people’s homes dry. All of these things are still needed, even though it’s been months after Helene hit,” said Nuckles.
If you would like to sponsor one of those buckets, which is $35, or support any other of the relief efforts by God’s Pit Crew, you can visit its website, here.
