Deadly crash on Brookneal Highway kills man from Gladys



CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police have reported a man from Gladys was killed during a three-vehicle crash that occurred in Campbell County on February 5.

According to VSP, around 5:04 p.m. on Wednesday, a 2008 Ford SRW Super Duty truck was in the north lane of Brookneal Highway when it attempted to turn left into a driveway. The Ford was then hit from behind by a 2019 Nissan Frontier, driven by 55-year-old William W. Shelley IV of Gladys.

Shelley’s vehicle then crossed the center line and hit a 2012 Dodge Ram 4500.

Shelley was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries. Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were both wearing their seatbelts and not injured, according to VSP.

The crash remains under investigation.
