Pinpoint Weather: Warmer-than-average Monday


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Warmer-than-average temperatures and mostly dry conditions are anticipated in Southwest and Central Virginia for the beginning of the week.

Increasing sunshine is slated for Monday. Morning temperatures will start in the cold upper 20s and 30s. However, a southwest breeze will help afternoon temperatures reach the milder upper 50s and lower/middle 60s.

A mostly dry cold front will pass through the region late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Expect increasing cloudiness overhead with spotty mountain rain showers possible. Many locations will stay dry. Overnight temperatures will drop into the lower 40s.

A variable mix of sun and clouds is forecast for Tuesday. Winds will be breezy at times. In the mountains, afternoon temperatures will generally be in the lower/middle 50s. Elsewhere, highs will be in the 60s.

Cooler temperatures and mostly cloudy skies are expected on Wednesday. Morning temperatures will start in the 30s before rising into the upper 30s and 40s by the afternoon. Scattered rain showers are possible during the afternoon and evening as a storm system treks across the Ohio Valley.

For Thursday, occasional rain showers will remain in the forecast with mostly cloudy skies overhead. A warm southwest breeze will allow temperatures to rise into the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s by the afternoon.
