Outdoors Bound: George’s Venison Chili Recipe

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Outdoors Bound’s George Noleff recently harvested a buck while deer hunting in Craig County. Many saw this morning on Good Day Virginia how George turned some of the ground meat from that harvest into venison chili. Here is that recipe:

George’s Venison Chili

2 Pounds Ground Venison

1 29 Ounce Can Tomato Sauce

1 14.5 Ounce Can Diced Tomatoes

1 4 Ounce Can Green Chilis

½ Canned Chipotle Pepper (Add more if you enjoy heat)

1 15.5 Ounce Can Dark Red Kidney Beans

1 teaspoon Minced Garlic

1 Cup Chopped Onion

2 Tablespoons Chili Powder

1 Cup Beef Broth

½ teaspoon Any Commercial Coffee Rub Like Traeger or Spiceology (Optional)

½ teaspoon Fresh Cilantro (Optional)

Salt and Pepper to Taste

Sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Remove onions and garlic and reserve. Add ground venison to the pan and brown. Place venison, onion, and garlic into a crockpot. Add all other ingredients. Cook on high for an hour. Reduce to low setting and continue to cook for another two hours.

Serve it with your favorite chili fixings.

(Ground Beef or Turkey can be substituted for the Venison)
