BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Blacksburg Police Department is hoping to bring the community together with, of all people, The Grinch during the 2024 Christmas season.
The department launched a campaign to increase community engagement as well as deliver PSAs to the community. The Grinch is an officer with the BPD, however, the identity remains a secret, as part of the fun.
The Grinch has been going around downtown Blacksburg since mid-November to bring attention to the Blacksburg Police Department Santa’s Blue Helpers.
The Blue Helpers Tree is a program the department started this year to bring gifts and supplies to children and families in need. However, this is the second year the Grinch has been spotted in Blacksburg.
The Grinch randomly picks locations all over the town and other staff have participated to support the cause.
