Hunter injured after falling from tree stand

MONETA, Va. (WFXR) – A man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after falling from a tree stand while hunting in Moneta Sunday morning.

At 6:12 a.m. on Sunday, the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports that a hunter had fallen from his tree stand in the 1300 block of Stony Fork Road.

The tree stand was nearly a half-mile from the house so four-wheel drive vehicles were used to get as close as possible before crews walked the rest of the way to the stand.

According to the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department, a battery-powered LED puck was stolen from the driveway to the residence during the rescue efforts.

The puck had been placed there to mark the driveway for additional rescue units and its removal reportedly caused a delay in response time for some of those units.

The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department is asking the person who picked up the light to return it to their station.
