WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Savannah Adams, 28, accused of burning Tiffany Dunford resulting in her death, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder and malicious assault resulting in severe injuries.
Both were class 2 felonies, which under the Virginia code of law, could land Adams anywhere between 20 years and life in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 if she’s convicted.
People who knew Dunford expressed their condolences and their hopes for justice on social media. Dunford’s family still cannot believe what happened.
“Anybody that knew Tiffany, she could light up a room, and whether she was in the right or wrong, I don’t care, I still loved her, but she didn’t deserve to be burned,” Dunford’s cousin Nancy Reyna said on the phone. “Tiffany is too nice of a person, and this is devastating to me and my family.”
WFXR reached out to the Wythe County Sheriff, but he said he could not comment because this is still an ongoing investigation. The court documents don’t shed much light on exactly how or why this all happened.
Adams is due for her court hearing on Friday, January 31.
