Warming shelters offered in Montgomery following winter weather



MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Montgomery County Fire and EMS Department will open a warming station on Tuesday, January 7 for those without power.

The warming shelter will be at Meadowbrook Community Center in Shawsville located at 267 Alleghany Spring Road and will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Here are some things to take note of:

  1. Hot water and electricity are available for those without power.
  2. Please park in the areas designated for the Meadowbrook Library.
  3. This will not be operational overnight; however, conditions will be evaluated in the morning and if need be the station will reopen at 9 a.m.

Those who come to the warming shelter are to park in the areas of the Meadowbrook Library.
