Wanted man arrested, accused of making threats with gun at Laurel Wood Apartments



PULASKI, Va. (WFXR) – The Pulaski Police Department reports the arrest of a wanted man after allegedly making threats to people in an apartment complex at gunpoint on January 7.

According to the police, officers responded to a home at Laurel Wood Apartments around 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday after reports of a man allegedly armed with a gun banging on the door and making threats.

Before officers arrived, an eyewitness saw the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old James Kelly Blankenship IV of Pulaski, leave the scene in a vehicle.

Shortly after, police located Blankenship’s vehicle and attempted to pull him over. However, Blankenship allegedly fled to a home on Valley Road in Pulaski County and then exited into a wooded area on foot.

He then surrendered to officers around 20 minutes later without further incident, police said.

Blankenship was also allegedly wanted on active warrants for unrelated incidents.

He has been taken to the New River Valley Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
