ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to a residential fire in the Masons Cove area on Wednesday, January 15.
Chief 10 from the Masons Cove Volunteer Fire Department was the first to arrive at the 4400 block of Wates Lane and found heavy smoke coming from the two-story home.
The fire was under control in about 40 minutes and there were no injuries to the two adults living in the home. However, two of the three dogs in the residents died due to the fire.
The occupants will be displaced and staying with local family members.
The cause of the fire was due to combustibles being too close to a heating source. The damage to the home was estimated at $150,000.
