Two charged with murder in connection to Lanford Street shooting



ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police have charged two people for the murder of 32-year-old Rafael Perez Naranjo after the shooting that occurred on Lanford Street on December 4.

RPD said that on December 20, 32-year-old Juan Quontell Welton and 20-year-old Joanna Lee Felts of Roanoke County were arrested by members of the Violence Suppression Unit, the Star City Task Force, and the Roanoke County SWAT Team and charged with Second Degree Murder.

Around 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, officers were called to the 4800 block of Lanford Street NW for reports of a shooting. After arriving on the scene, Rafael Naranjo was found injured by gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

During the investigation, Welton and Felts were identified as alleged suspects, and warrants were obtained for their arrests.
