CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Carroll County Sheriff has charged two people after a car chase that forced local schools to go into secure mode on November 15.
Sheriff Kemp told WFXR News that around 2:09 p.m. on Friday, deputies attempted to pull over a white Ferrari on I-77N. The driver allegedly refused to comply with a traffic stop and fled off Exit 14 into Hillsville.
About 10 minutes later, the car was found parked at the Carroll County Government Center. A search of the area was conducted and two suspects, the alleged driver and passenger, were taken into custody without further incident.
The two suspects have currently been charged with Felony Eluding from Law Enforcement with more charges pending.
Due to the proximity to the Government Center, Carroll County Public Schools were placed on a temporary “secure status” while authorities were in the area. The secure mode has since been lifted and all schools have been dismissed, according to a message released on the CCPS Facebook page.
The Carroll County Sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing. There were no reports of any injuries or weapons used during the incident. The sheriff said the white Ferrari allegedly driven during the incident is registered out of Florida.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Hillsville Police Department, the Virginia State Police, and Carroll County Public Schools.
