ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day, and local flower shops are working hard to keep up with the demand.
George’s Flowers has been a staple in the valley for 44 years, and its owner says Valentine’s Day, and the week of it, is the shop’s busiest…
He says they cap its deliveries at 400 a day, but George says the shop gets that many walk-ins as well.
“This day is more than 12 times a normal business day in one day. And our Valentine’s has been going all week. Even though we had snow and ice earlier in the week, we were still out making deliveries on Monday, on Tuesday, and Wednesday. The 13th of February was also a big, big day. That’s kind of our warm-up,” said George Clements, owner and founder of George’s Flowers.
George says this is the shop’s single biggest day of the year, but he says he and his team are up for the challenge. He says each driver will make around sixty to seventy deliveries today, and they get a lot of joy when they get to see the surprise on customers’ faces.
