Springhouse hosts event to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Springhouse has announced a special event to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called The Long Road: Building Beloved Community in the New River Valley.

The event is Monday, January 20 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Springhouse located at 144 Silver Maple Lane in Pilot, Va.

The event is to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and contribute to the ongoing work to build a more inclusive world. It will also allow a space for individuals and families to gather, celebrate diversity, and reflect the vision of the community by Dr. King.

The community defined by Dr. King urged all people to live in freedom, equality, and dignity free from racism, bigotry, and poverty.

Highlights of the event include

  • Community Potluck: Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, fostering connection and celebration of the unique culinary traditions within the community.
  • Music and Fellowship: Enjoy live music and come together in a joyful atmosphere that highlights the power of community and shared purpose.
  • Welcome Posters: Sourced Press will be offering their Welcome Posters as tools for building community and welcoming all people.
  • Community Roundtable: Community leaders will be invited to participate in the Community Roundtable, a long-term initiative from Springhouse aimed at supporting the holistic development of local leaders who are committed to service and positive change.
