Shop Williamson Road Weeks begins in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Williamson Road covers over eight miles from downtown Roanoke to Hollins University.

It has over 49 cultural stores on the route, and starting on November 18th, The Greater Williamson Road Area Business Association will transform “Restaurant Week” into “Shop Williamson Road Weeks.”

For the next two weeks, shoppers can “travel around the world” without leaving the valley.
Shoppers can get an event passport at any participating shops and get them stamped for the next two weeks.

“As folks come out and travel and try different restaurants, or try different shops, try different services, they’re going to find something that they never knew was here before, and they’re gonna get all excited about it, and they’re gonna tell their friends, and then they’re gonna tell their friends, and it’s just gonna grow from there,” said Valerie Brown, the Executive Director of The Greater Williamson Road Area Business Association.

The timing of this shopping week has the event ending right on Small Business Saturday.
Participating shops along the route include restaurants, thrift stores, salons, and tire shops.

At the end of the event, once you’ve got all your passport stamps, you can drop off your passport to any of the participating businesses, and you’ll be entered to win a prize: ranging from gift cards to a 500-dollar voucher to anywhere on any airline from the Roanoke Blacksburg Regional airport.

If you’d like to participate, you can pick up your passport at any business or Business association office.
