SCAM ALERT: Sheriff’s Office warns residents of scammers posing as reputable businesses



MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Montgomery Sheriff’s Office is advising residents of a new scam.

Residents are reporting that they receiving letters from scammers portraying as a known business.

The Sheriff said the letters promise many forms of payment if residents purchase gift cards from the company.

The Sheriff’s Office says that exchanging gift cards with a business or government organization is not common and residents should be cautious of this scam.
