ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The City of Roanoke has been recognized as one of the top digital cities in the nation by the Center for Digital Government for the 23rd consecutive year.
This recognition shows Roanoke’s commitment to technology to improve government efficiency, elevate public services, and enhance community engagement.
Roanoke has maintained this honor as a top digital city since 2001, which is because of investments in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and user-focused public services.
Initiatives that are key to the digital city include data analytics for public safety, expansion to access to online services, and improving citywide connectivity.
“Cities of every size are redefining what’s possible using technology to elevate public service and improve government,” said John Matelski, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Government. “The Digital Cities Survey is proud to honor these visionary leaders and cities setting bold new benchmarks in digital governance. Congratulations to all those driving impactful change and pioneering the future of local government with innovation and steadfast commitment.”
Vanessa Bohr, Director of Technology, has emphasized the importance of continuous innovation. “Our designation as a top digital city underscores Roanoke’s dedication to technology-driven solutions that meet the needs of our residents and businesses,” Bohr said. “We’re proud to lead in digital transformation and grateful to the Center for Digital Government for this recognition.”
