Roanoke man arrested for fatally hitting woman with car in Salem



SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — A Roanoke man was arrested in Salem after hitting a woman with his car Saturday night.

Salem Police were called to a restaurant parking lot on the 1800 block of West Main Street just after 8:30 p.m. Dec. 28. They found 32-year-old Ashley Marie Gearhart with life-threatening injuries. She died at the scene.

Police believe 30-year-old Jeremy Christopher Williams hit her with his truck. They add that Williams and Gearhart had previously been in a relationship.

Williams stayed at the scene and was arrested. He’s charged with Second Degree Murder and is being held without bond.
