ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Fire and EMS have announced the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art training center facility.
The facility’s grand opening will take place on Friday, February 6 at 11 a.m., located at 802 River Avenue Southeast in Roanoke. The event will offer a tour of the facility along with the chance to meet the training staff.
It will expand training opportunities and resources for recruits, local firefighters, and public safety entities across the East Coast. The facility will also be dedicated to recruiting schools, enhanced classroom environments, and specialized training areas that are currently unavailable in the region.
Classes offered will include Paramedic Classes, Incumbent Training, and a variety of Regional and State Classes to bring more education opportunities beyond the Roanoke Fire-EMS Team.
“This Training Center represents a new chapter for Roanoke Fire-EMS,” said Battalion Chief Rhett Fleitz, who oversees training. “We are excited about the opportunities this space provides for both our department and our partners in the public safety community. Class 25-1 is the first recruit class training in this facility; the ability to conduct city-specific recruit academies and host advanced training courses will elevate the level of service we as a region provide to the community.”
This transition was made possible by the dedicated team members of Roanoke Fire-EMS, who have spent many hours painting, moving furniture, and setting up the gym and classrooms to show their commitment to the departments mission.
“We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and collaboration of our team members who made this move possible,” said Chief David Hoback. “Their dedication ensures that this facility will serve as a hub for learning and professional growth in the region and across the State of Virginia for years to come.”
