LPD closing investigation at the University of Lynchburg, no assault found



UPDATE 11/20 5:15 P.M. LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)- Over a series of three days, the LPD has been investigating a possible assault incident at the University of Lynchburg.

After investigating and reviewing security camera footage, and other information the LPD has determined there was no assault.

At this time, the LPD is not looking for other suspects and is closing the case.

The victim who reported the incident was not a student at the university.



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) responded to an alleged attack at the University of Lynchburg Sunday night.

After getting the call around 8:20 p.m., on Sunday, November 17, officers spoke to a victim who said she’d been punched several times. She also had a small scratch on her forehead according to police, and while she didn’t see a knife, believes the attacker may have had one.

The suspect is described as a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and red shoes.

Police have canvassed the area and checked security footage.

The victim was awake and alert at the scene, however, declined transport for further medical treatment.

LPD says that based on the information, the incident doesn’t qualify as malicious wounding.
