Pinpoint Weather: Wind Advisory Tuesday


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Wind Advisory is in effect through 3 p.m. Tuesday for areas along and west of the Blue Ridge.

Sustained winds out of the west of 15 to 30 mph are expected with gusts of 40 to 50 mph expected. The stronger winds will be in the higher elevations with slightly less wind in the valleys. Wind speeds will peak around midday, slowly dropping during the afternoon hours.

Temperatures will continue to climb with near to above-average conditions expected on Tuesday. Overnight, temperatures will drop to near 30 before climbing into the 40s and 50s during the afternoon.

Winds will increase as a cold front moves into the region. Dry conditions will continue with an increase in cloud cover for the western mountains.

Another cold front moves through on Wednesday. Ahead of the front, temperatures will get warmer with a slight drop in temperatures for the end of the week. Rain is likely on Friday with dry conditions returning for the weekend. Another warmup is expected on Monday.
