ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Cooler and drier air will settle into Southwest and Central Virginia for the next couple of days. Rain showers will return to the region on Thursday.
Tuesday will start with morning temperatures in the 40s and lower 50s. Plentiful sunshine is in the forecast, but a northwest breeze will keep the area seasonably cool. Afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s.
Prepare for a cold start to Wednesday! Temperatures will plummet into the upper 20s and lower 30s overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. Otherwise, it will be a mostly sunny start to the day with afternoon highs in the cooler mid-50s. Clouds will increase late Wednesday.
A storm system will impact the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday. Scattered showers are likely for the day with the bulk of the rainfall occurring during the afternoon and evening hours. It will be the coolest day of the week, with highs in the 40s.
A cold front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia late Thursday night. Drier air will filter in behind the front. Expect breezy winds and increasing sunshine for Friday with highs in the 50s and lower 60s.
Mostly dry weather is anticipated for the weekend. Saturday will be mostly sunny and breezy with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s. Sunday will be slightly milder with highs in the 60s across Southwest and Central Virginia.
