ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for areas just east of the Blue Ridge westward.

For many areas, the icing potential should end around midday into the early afternoon. For the higher elevations along the Blue Ridge and the Highlands, wintry weather could continue into the early evening hours.
Ice accumulation should remain light, but any ice can make roads, especially bridges, and sidewalks slippery. Use caution if you have to travel this morning.

While some areas in the mountains may see snow mix in with rain, accumulations will stay in the Highlands. The westernmost mountains could see two to five inches over the next 24 hours.

Temperatures will gradually warm across the region today, changing any icing over to liquid rain and bringing the threat to an end. Chilly conditions remain with highs in the 30s and 40s. Lows tonight will be in the 30s.
