Pinpoint Weather: Staying dangerously cold

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Cold Weather Advisory continues for the Blue Ridge westward with an Extreme Cold Warning for the higher mountains in the Highlands through midday on Wednesday.

When factoring in the wind, it will feel like -15 from time to time for the mountains with wind chills as low as -10 in the valleys.

High pressure will slide to the east on Tuesday, allowing clouds to enter the region.

A storm system will move across the south Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing snow. Some of the snow could approach Southside. If it moves in, areas east of Danville could pick up a dusting to a half inch. Right now, it appears that should remain to our south though.

Temperatures will remain cold on Tuesday, starting the day in the single digits and teens. During the afternoon, temperatures will rise into the teens and 20s.

Temperatures will remain in the 20s through Wednesday with above-freezing temperatures returning Thursday through the weekend.
