ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the region through midday on Wednesday with Extreme Cold Warnings for parts of the Highlands and Grayson County. When factoring in the wind, it will feel like -20 to zero.

A fast-moving system, mainly impacting the southern U.S., could bring some flurries through the evening hours in Southside. As the system departs early Wednesday morning, clouds will begin to break up. High pressure will return on Wednesday, bringing sunshine back to the region.
Temperatures will remain dangerously cold for one more day. Wednesday with start with temperatures below zero and in the single digits, rising into the teens and 20s during the afternoon.
For many, temperatures will return to above-freezing levels on Thursday as we return to the 30s. Temperatures warm into the 40s for the weekend and early next week.
