ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Thursday, bringing spotty showers to the region.
Mostly to partly cloudy skies will be overhead on Thursday. Patchy fog may impact the morning commute. Temperatures will start in the mild 50s and 60s before rising into the unseasonably warm 70s and lower 80s.
Scattered rain showers are possible as the slow-moving front moves through Southwest and Central Virginia. Rumbles of thunder may occur. Not everyone will see rain and rainfall amounts will generally be less than a quarter of an inch.
Rain chances will decrease on Friday, but a few stray showers cannot be ruled out. It will be slightly cooler with variably cloudy skies overhead. Afternoon highs will be in the 70s.
It will be a mostly dry start to the weekend. For Saturday, a mix of sun and clouds will be overhead with afternoon temperatures in the cooler 60s. Increasing cloudiness is anticipated late in the day.
A cold front will approach the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday and Monday, bringing scattered rain showers to Southwest and Central Virginia. Rainfall amounts may range from 0.25″ to 0.75″. Sunday will be cloudy and cooler with highs in the 50s. Much of the rain will wrap up Monday morning. It will be slightly warmer with afternoon temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s.

Rafael will move away from western Cuba on Thursday.
For the next few days, the category-two hurricane will meander over the Gulf of Mexico. Rafael may weaken into a tropical storm by the beginning of next week as shear and dry air impact the storm.
