ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Prepare for wet conditions. Rain is likely across Southwest and Central Virginia on Friday.

A Flood Watch is in effect through early Saturday morning for the westernmost counties in Virginia into West Virginia. Repeated rounds of moderate/heavy rainfall and snow melt could cause flooding along streams and creeks, as well as in low-lying locations and areas with poor drainage.
Some breaks in the rain are expected on Friday morning. However, steadier rainfall will return during the afternoon and evening hours as a cold front passes through the region. Temperatures will reach the 50s and lower 60s under cloudy skies. Winds may gust as high as 30 mph.

Overall, less rain is expected near the Virginia – North Carolina line. Areas south of US 460 will generally see less than half an inch of rainfall. Areas along US 460 could see up to an inch of rain. Higher rainfall totals of one to two inches are anticipated along and north of I-64.
Rain chances will decrease overnight Friday with drier conditions expected before sunrise on Saturday. Decreasing cloudiness is slated for the day with afternoon highs in the upper 40s and 50s.

Winds from the northwest on Sunday will result in cooler conditions. Morning temperatures will start in the upper 20s and 30s. Under variably cloudy skies, afternoon temperatures will rise into the 40s.

Temperatures will briefly return to the well above-average 50s and lower 60s on Monday before dropping back into the 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
