ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect through 7 a.m. Saturday for most of the region. The Warnings will continue into the afternoon for the western slopes of the mountains.

Most of the region is expected to receive two to four inches of snow with some locally higher amounts in Southside. Due to the snow lasting longer for the western mountains, four to seven inches is expected there.

Snow will end from west to east in the early morning hours on Saturday. Areas west of the Blue Ridge will see snow end by 3 a.m. with the Piedmont seeing it end by 6 a.m.
As the storm moves out, breezy conditions are expected on Saturday with gusts to 30 mph expected. Winds will decrease Saturday night.

Temperatures overnight will drop into the 20s with highs on Saturday in the 20s and 30s. Areas east of the Blue Ridge will go above freezing during the afternoon.
Temperatures will get warmer through Monday with highs in the 30s and 40s. Temperatures return to the 20s and 30s Tuesday through Thursday with a return to the 40s again on Friday. Dry conditions are expected.
