Pinpoint Weather: Rain on the way


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — As winds continue to decrease overnight, attention turns to the rain that will move into the region. Light showers could begin in the south Thursday afternoon, lifting northward during the evening. The steady rain will move in on Friday as a cold front pushes into the region. Rainfall will be lightest in the south and heavier in the north.

A Flood Watch is in effect Thursday and Friday for Pocahontas County as heavy rain and melting snow could cause flooding.

Showers could move into the region during the afternoon hours on Thursday as a warm front lifts northward. The chance for showers will continue into Thursday night and Friday.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Thursday, but still above average. The day will start in the 20s and 30s with 40s and 50s expected during the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain above average for the weekend ahead with highs in the 50s through the weekend. Temperatures will briefly return to the 60s on Monday before dropping back into the 50s on Tuesday.
